About this document
A demand letter is a written request from one person to another to do something: pay an amount, return property, finish agreed work or take another step you describe. It sets out what happened and gives a date to respond by.
It is written as your own account, in neutral and factual terms, and is often a first step before anything more formal.
The builder keeps to what you tell it. It does not cite laws, threaten specific remedies or state deadlines as legal requirements. The date is the one you choose.
